The Threes

THREE OF WANDS

Possible keywords: Discovery. Exploration. Action.

I always think the Two and Three of Wands look far too similar in the RWS, so it’s good to distinguish the differences in your mind. If the Two is planning the

next step, the Three of Wands is implementing the plan. You know what you need to do, you’ve got the tools and you’ve made a map — now it’s time to DO it. If we dig deep inside we’ll find all the resources we need. Trust your creative instincts.

THREE OF CUPS

Possible keywords: Bonds of friendships. Support. Joy.

The Three of Cups is about companionship and the sweet bonds of friendship. If the Two of Cups was the beginning of love, the Three is the morning after when you call your best friend and dish all the gossip :-) This card reminds us to share our joy. Joy shared expands exponentially.

THREE OF SWORDS

Possible keywords: Grief. Loss. Eventual release.

The sword in the heart. The pain of loss, disappointment, betrayal, and heartbreak. The first genuinely dramatic-looking card we encounter reminds us that the Swords don’t shy away from the more complicated things in life. The pain can come from an unmet expectation or a hard decision made. Another does not always inflict the Sword in the heart — humans can hurt themselves. However, the pain was born, and healing and release can come through acknowledgment. Feel your way through this rather than try to THINK your way through.

THREE OF PENTACLES

Possible keywords: Teamwork. Practical support. Help.

The Three of Pentacles is about teamwork. It’s about working together towards a common goal. We can’t always do it alone, and if you’re a lone shewolf like me, it’s good to remember that sometimes things ARE better done together. Blending different viewpoints and skills can only benefit the project at hand. Let others in and ask for the help you need. Likewise, share what you know with others.
