Me today: Queen of Swords Keywords: Intelligent, discerning, assertive, articulate
“Be the queen of your thoughts, not the slave.” I have this written in my own LWB and I think it every time I draw the Queen of Swords. She is forthright and honest. She speaks her mind and inspires others with her clear-sightedness — and wit. She knows how to command a room, but more than that, she knows how to command her thoughts. She can sometimes appear cold as she can compartmentalize her feelings and let her formidable intellect take the lead. Her frankness disarms all but her closest friends. This Queen is a philosopher, forever searching for a deeper meaning. What she lacks in empathy, she makes up for in her honesty. She will always give it to you straight. She teaches us to cut through confusion and find clarity in our thoughts. She encourages us to stop procrastinating, stop doubting ourselves, and finally commit to a project. She’ll inspire you to be crystal clear in your communications with others. Whether you’re debating a point, teaching a class, or planning a TED talk, the Queen of Swords is who you need to channel.
Crossing my path: Temperance Possible keywords: Moderation, emotional calm, harmony, balance
After the polarity in the Lovers card, we find another variation in Temperance. The word comes from the Latin temperate, meaning “to mix” — it’s moving in with your lover, fusing two individual lives to make something new. It’s the middle road, the third option, the synthesis of two ideologies embodying yin and yang. Balance as a concept appears often in the tarot — here, we’re being advised to keep our heads and seek emotional balance. Temperance could be viewed as “everything in moderation”, that hackneyed old phrase that sounds boring initially but might be the key to surviving this crazy ride. There’s a reason Temperance sits between Death and the Devil, Temperance is calming, soothing, a balm for what ails us. Ask yourself: where am I out of balance here? How could some moderation help this situation?
Guidance: The Sun Possible keywords: Success, radiance, unfettered joy, vitality
The Sun is the pulsating heart in our corner of the universe, and when it appears in a spread, it’s a call to muster all your light and shine it far and wide. The Sun is ripening fruit, and there is a soft breeze. That glowy warmth on your skin makes you drop your shoulders and dig your toes in the sand. If the Moon highlights our shadows, the Sun celebrates our vibrancy and light. A genuinely joyful card: embrace the Sun's life-giving power as you go about your day today. By spreading your light, you empower others to do the same. How can you embody your radiance today?
