Welcome 2025
Opening message from spirit - Six of Pentacles
Possible keywords: Generosity. Abundance. Nurturance.
Give and take, being open to receiving what we need. This card contains an element of charity and selfless generosity that doesn’t deplete us.
Even the most minor acts of kindness could change the world if everyone made the effort. The goodness we send out into the world gets recycled back to us. The scales are balanced, and there is enough for everyone.
How to best achieve goals and dreams - Three of Cups
Possible keywords: Bonds of friendships. Support. Joy.
The Three of Cups is about companionship and the sweet bonds of friendship. If the Two of Cups was the beginning of love, the Three is the morning after when you call your best friend and dish all the gossip :-) This card reminds us to share our joy. Joy shared expands exponentially.
Actions to take this year - The Chariot
Possible keywords: Determination, willpower, movement, perseverance
This card says: grab the reins and GET MOVING! It’s an invitation to rally your determination and create profound change in your life. You’re being guided to let go of doubt and grab this opportunity with both hands. Remind yourself why you’re doing this. Push yourself and test your limits. The Chariot is one of the most forceful cards in the deck, seemingly at odds with its element, but consider how a river remakes a landscape and tidal waves decimate a shoreline. This is water at its most transformational, so ride the wave!
Departing Energies - Queen of Swords
Keywords: Intelligent, discerning, assertive, articulate
“Be the queen of your thoughts, not the slave.” I have this written in my own LWB and I think it every time I draw the Queen of Swords. She is forthright and honest. She speaks her mind and inspires others with her clear-sightedness — and wit. She knows how to command a room, but more than that, she knows how to command her thoughts. She can sometimes appear cold as she can compartmentalize her feelings and let her formidable intellect take the lead. Her frankness disarms all but her closest friends. This Queen is a philosopher, forever searching for a deeper meaning. What she lacks in empathy, she makes up for in her honesty. She will always give it to you straight. She teaches us to cut through confusion and find clarity in our thoughts. She encourages us to stop procrastinating, stop doubting ourselves, and finally commit to a project. She’ll inspire you to be crystal clear in your communications with others. Whether you’re debating a point, teaching a class, or planning a TED talk, the Queen of Swords is who you need to channel.
The main theme of 2025 - King of Pentacles
Keywords: Entrepreneurial, practical, successful, loyal
The King of Pentacles has worked hard and achieved his goals in the material world. He’s often depicted wearing sumptuous robes surrounded by plants and possessions, the master of all he surveys. The King of Pentacles has the Midas touch regarding new ventures; he’s an entrepreneurial genius in the modern world. He has high ethical standards and is often conservative in his views. The Fire of Earth makes me think of volcanic eruptions shaping the landscape, and indeed, this King is all about making the world a better place through practical change. The most eco-minded of the Court, he’s not opposed to earthly pleasures as long as they’re sustainably sourced! The King of Pentacles teaches us to take our physical and material needs seriously and reminds us to build strong foundations. A master manifesto, in the Shadowscapes Tarot, this King is depicted as part of a tree — his roots are deep, and he protects those under his care. He’ll never intentionally let you down. He represents safety in all its forms.
Future opportunities and energies - The Emperor
Possible keywords: Order, structure, leadership, organization
The Emperor is the Divine Father, the protector and builder of our world. He is the organizing force in our lives, the necessary guiding light that helps us manifest our practical needs and keeps us on track when the wind inevitably blows. “Stand firm, stand tall,” he counsels, reminding us to focus and channel our energy toward attaining our goals. He may represent this energy in the shape of another person but more likely the Emperor is the masculine principle within us, the active yang energy of agency and action. He takes control of a situation and sets boundaries where necessary. He is the steady hand that helps us find our way through the chaos of life. The Emperor always reminds me to bring my brain back into the equation. He inspires me to take responsibility for my actions.
Potential obstacles and how to overcome - Page of Cups
Keywords: romantic, caring, visionary, sensitive
The Page of Cups is the spiritual seeker in the Court. She’s always the first to offer emotional support to a friend in crisis, even if it might drain her. She wants to know what love is and spends much time reading personal development books to better understand her motivations. She’s just as fascinated by everything esoteric; music and poetry feed her soul. The fish that often appears on the Page symbolizes her boundless imagination and the deep depths of her psyche. This dreamy Page teaches us about kindness and compassion and reminds us to express our feelings even if we don’t fully understand them yet — that will come once we give them space to be. “Don’t be afraid to open your heart,” she says. We can learn so much when we give ourselves new life experiences. The Page of Cups cherishes her sensitivity, both emotional and spiritual.
Talents I’ll be expressing this year - Eight of Cups
Possible keywords: Detaching. Moving on. A new path.
We can have everything we want, but it may not fulfill us as we’d hoped. This card appears when it’s time to make a move. We’ve done all we can, and now it’s time to detach and consciously continue our journey along a new path. Letting go can be sad, but the relief comes with regaining our freedom. Once the decision has been made, we can move forward more quickly.
Parting message - King of Cups
Keywords: Enlightened, considerate, sensitive, protective
The King of Cups has gone deep inside and mastered his emotional landscape. He’s spent years on his yoga mat, meditating on his life lessons to understand who he truly is. Like Fire heats Water, the King of Cups has a sensual side that makes him a compelling lover. He’s an attentive listener who is understanding and empathic. He’s emotionally literate and emotionally grounded, too. He’s a New Age dream, in other words! This King encourages us to BE with our feelings actively and use intuition to guide us forward. He’s learned how to manage his emotions and shows up in our lives to teach us the same. He guides us to seek all forms of therapy when needed, to open up and swim in the currents of our being. The King of Cups is the wise father figure of the Court, the one you go to with your problems. He’s a big softie at heart and wields his power with dignity, gentleness, and care.
